About

My name is Tammy Gilkerson Milam. I was born and raised in Fayetteville, West Virginia and have lived here my entire life. I am a mother of two amazing kids, both of which are on the Autism spectrum. I am also a cancer survivor and I am trying to make the most out of my life that I can. When faced with something like cancer you are forced to look at your life and evaluate.  I decided then that I needed to try my best to do what I love. That is....being creative!

I've been artistic most of my life, enjoying drawing, painting, pastel, charcoal and many other forms of creativity.  It wasn't until 2019 that my husband bought me a professional grade wire-tip woodburner as a Christmas gift. I was immediately hooked on pyrography. I spend a lot of time working with it and generally love every second of it. As the saying goes..."Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." That can definitely apply to my situation.  Don't get me wrong, the woodburning process can be difficult and time consuming.  It can be very frustrating at times with challenges such as wood grain, knots, and sap. However, the challenge is part of the appeal for me.

I can't imagine not being able to do pyrography now that I love it so much. It has become such an important part of my life. I hope that I can continue to enjoy it for many years to come.
